I find it hard to believe that in times like we are currently facing, people still spend countless amounts of money on trivial items. Things like cigarettes, getting manicures, fake nails, gum, etc. The amount of money spent in a given year on these items is just amazes me. I also find it extremely humourous that these same people wasting this money are the ones who complain the loudest about not having enough money to pay bills. Crazy!!
The average smoker who goes through a pack a day is spending up to $1,660 per year. I mean come on this is one months house payment for a really nice house. There are thousands of people out there right now who would do just about anything for the ability to make their house payment. Beyond the simple realization of how much money you could save by cutting down on smoking, what exactly do you get from buying cigarettes? It's true, I am not a smoker so I cannot understand exactly the draw to smoking but I've been told by my smoker friends that it's just something they do. After you smoke it and most of the time do not smoke the entire thing, you throw it away. Some say it's a stress reliever, but is it really or is this just a mental aspect of smoking. Seems to me that with the economy in the shape that it is in, you would want to save money at every possible point that you could.
The one I really find funny are the people who insist on keeping up their fake nails. I've seen several of the people I know complain about not having any money but when you seen recent pictures of them, their nails are flawless. Does having beautiful nails make being broke more bearable?? People spend in upwards of $2000 a year to keep these things up. Not only are they draining your wallet but they are actually killing your real nails that are suffocating beneath them. This is absolutel insane!!
Thank you for letting me take this time to vent about some of the stupidity that I see throughout the day.
